City Council adopts 2012-2013 budget

Discussion on waiver request from Habitat for Humanity is tabled

WALDPORT - After a rather lengthy discussion about one small aspect of the city’s $4.7-million 2012-2013 budget, Waldport City Council members approved the fiscal plan by a 6-1 tally, with Peter Kelly opposed, during their June 14 session.

The city budget features a $1,001,642 general fund, $795,751 water fund, $794,341 public works fund, $740,070 sewer fund, $321,695 community fund and $275,500 street fund. Council members also unanimously approved the $146,600 Waldport Road District #3 budget, the $263,300 Waldport Urban Renewal Agency budget and several amendments to the 2011-12 city budget. They approved a transfer of $10,000 from the general fund contingency to the community fund to cover the cost of replacing heat pumps at the community center; moved $32,500 from capital outlay to personnel services in the public works fund to cover unanticipated unemployment benefits and extended unemployment benefits, plus $7,500 from capital outlay to materials and services for arbitration expenses; increased the street fund’s beginning balance by $14,400 and materials and services by $50,000 to cover additional costs for clean-up from winter storms. They moved $9,800 from capital outlay and $25,800 from contingency.
