9:24 a.m. Fraud or forgery reported in the 100 block of SE 118th Street in South Beach. Caller reported that an 85-year-old woman had been the victim of an attempted scam. The scammer asked for $2,000 and said he was a general in Afghanistan. She was very hysterical and did not send the money.
10:13 a.m. Welfare check requested in the 100 block of NE Vingie Street in Yachats. Caller reported that the subject has not shown up for work in four days. The caller advised that isnít normal behavior for the subject and the caller requested a deputy check on the subjectís welfare. The caller is a coworker.
10:32 a.m. Welfare check requested in the 1900 block of NW Corvette Street in Waldport. Caller reported that they only had the post office box of the subject and said that the subject told physicians that he lives in Bayshore. The subject needs to go to the ER.
10:59 a.m. Welfare check requested in the 3600 block of S. Coast Highway in South Beach. Caller reported that an elderly man in a car just hit the building and backed up. The caller said there was no damage to the building. The man did not appear to be intoxicated, he was in a silver jeep grand Cherokee and the bumper sticker on the hatch said special forces.For the complete article see the 01-30-2013 issue.
