Just a short drive up from the current Waldport High School, a new and vastly improved Waldport High continues to come together at a rapid pace. Rapid enough that, if things go as expected, students can start out next year in the new facility.

“The plan was to open the first school day after the first of the year,” said Rich Belloni, support services director for Lincoln County School District, “but I decided when we started, that I wanted to be done by September. What we’ve tried to do is push the schedule enough that we can get it so the kids can be in there at the beginning of the year, instead of having to move in the middle of the year.”

Crews started on the east end of the new building, where the bulk of the classroom space will be located, and are now moving west, working on the administrative offices, multi purpose room and gymnasium. So while there’s mostly finish work left to do in the classrooms, framing is still going up in some places near the gym.
