When students move into the new Waldport High School building at the beginning of next school year, the current building will be facing a wrecking ball.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently awarded the Lincoln County School District $3 million in pre-disaster mitigation grant funds to turn the current Waldport High School campus into open space. Under the conditions of the grant, FEMA will own the development rights to the 11.47 acre site, with strict controls as to what can be done with the space.
