Andrew Vagenas

Andrew Vagenas, 81, of Seal Rock, Ore., died June 14, 2012 at his home.

He was born Oct. 6, 1930 to Samuel and Concha Vagenas in Los Angeles, Calif. In 1985, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Barry University. He served at an Air Force Maintenance Base outside of Tokyo during the Korean War. He worked for 30 years in commercial aviation, first as a mechanic, then as a flight engineer, ending his career in October 1990 shortly after purchasing his dream home overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Retirement was just a change of focus as Andy rapidly joined the dedicated community volunteers at South Lincoln Resources.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dena Vagenas.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Vagenas of Seal Rock; daughter, Debbie Renny of West Palm Beach, Fla.; son, James Vagenas of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and stepsons, Steve Oldham of Waldport, and Mike Oldham of Pickerington, Ohio.

A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1506 NW Pacific Coast Highway in Waldport.
