WALDPORT - Some high school athletes are clearly the stars of their respective teams and as such often get most of the public accolades. The remaining athletes play supporting roles vital to team success, yet they play in the shadows of the stars. They generally work just as hard, if not harder, at practice and on the playing field, but often “star” more in other arenas, from academics to community service.

Waldport’s scholar athlete Elliott Webb is one of them. While admitting he’s not a “stellar athlete,” he still lettered in cross-country, basketball and baseball. He also maintained a full class schedule with a cumulative 4.0 grade point average and top academic ranking in his class.
