Conservancy plans controlled burn near Yachats for Silverspot butterfly

The Nature Conservancy and partners have scheduled a controlled burn on important grasslands at Big Creek Preserve near Yachats, in the next two to three weeks. A team of fire professionals, including Siuslaw National Forest personnel, with many decades of controlled burn experience, are planning to burn five acres as weather conditions permit.
