Five Waldport football players, all of who were invaluable in resuscitating a once hackneyed and downhearted program, were named to the 2A All-State Football team on Thursday.

Record-breaking junior wide receiver Kraig Pruett led the Irish pack with a first-team all-state selection after catching 87 passes for 1,550 yards and 14 touchdowns. A transfer from West Salem High School, Pruett set a new national record with 456 receiving yards in a single game against Culver in the Irish’s season finale.
