Sybil Laverne Anderson Pruett, 79, of Yachats, Ore., died Jan. 4, 2013 in Lincoln City, Ore.
She was born Feb. 20, 1933 to John Frederick Anderson and Margaret Avis Timken Anderson in Hobart, Okla., where she was raised. She married Lyndol Lloyd Pruett in Hobart on July 23, 1950.
In 1952, they moved to Alaska. She spent most of the following 30 years living in numerous places around the state. In 1982, she retired to Yachats.
She flew over the North Pole twice, traveled in England, Finland and throughout Europe, and took a memorable trip to Casablanca and the Canary Islands. Sybil was an artist, painting land and seascapes.
She was a member of the Sweet Adelines singing group, the Presbyterian Church, and American Volkssporting Association (AVA).
She enjoyed sewing, painting, cartooning, singing, reading, cooking, crossword puzzles and children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Margaret Anderson; brother, Russell Anderson; sister, Lois Belk; and son, David Pruett.
She is survived by her husband, Lyndol Lloyd Pruett; children, Terry (Cynthia) Pruett, Craig Pruett, Karen (Mike) Pruett, Ricky “Rik” Pruett, and Brian (Elaine) Pruett; sister, Muriel Drennen; brother-in-law, Tom Belk; brother-in-law, James Drennen; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nephew, Kevin Timmons.
A celebration of life service was at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at the Yachats Presbyterian Church, 360 W. Seventh St. in Yachats.
