Waldport High students to the rescue in CERT class final

Members of the Waldport High School Teen CERT class work in one of two triage areas during their class final - a half-day emergency response simulation for an earthquake in the Waldport area. Teacher Melissa Steinman said that while many roles were defined before the event, those in charge of the safety of this type of lift were not chosen ahead of time, which allowed students to take a leadership role.

What would happen if a major earthquake hit south Lincoln County? Would first responders be able to get to people and take care of their needs immediately? Likely not.
