Almost 50 percent of American adults have total cholesterol levels above 200 mg/dL, placing them at risk for cardiovascular disease - elevated cholesterol is one of the most important risk factors for heart disease. Elevated cholesterol is also associated with increased risk of several cancers.
A high nutrient diet is by far the most effective method of reducing cholesterol while avoiding side effects. A dietary intervention study using my recommended eating style found that LDL cholesterol was reduced by 33 percent in just 6 weeks.
