If a tsunami is headed for Waldport, residents will now be hearing about it through the ring of a telephone and not the wail of a warning siren.
During last month’s Waldport City Council meeting, councilors opted to discontinue operation of the city’s three tsunami warning sirens by a vote of six to one. The city will now rely exclusively on its Everbridge reverse 9-1-1 system to notify residents in the event of a tsunami or other emergency. For the complete article see the 05-01-2013 issue.
