Samaritan diabetes program improves quality of life

Exercise specialist Nicole Schultz speaks to the diabetes support group at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport about the importance of exercise in managing diabetes. The group meets once a month as part of the diabetes self-management program at the hospital.
Ten years ago, Bob Silwones, 57, learned the hard way that he had type 2 diabetes. While working at an aerospace company in Washington, he passed out and ended up in a hospital emergency room. His blood sugar level was off the charts over 600.
