NEWPORT — To help students in its alternative education program be more successful, the Lincoln County School District is planning to take a different approach this year.
It will be a more personalized approach, said new Director of Secondary Education Eric Clendenin.
The district hasn’t been “getting the results hoped for” in the past, he said, so they’ve changed focus to ensure students are career or college ready after graduation.
To help strengthen staff/student relationships, classified staff will be meeting with the students one-on-one.
Alternative education will also be “having a presence in each community” with new sites, he added – Yaquina View in Newport, Arcadia Elementary in Toledo, a basement room at Taft High and a still yet to be decided location in Waldport. For the complete article see the 08-20-2014 issue.
