Pleas lead to prison time for Fine

Posted: Wednesday, Aug 20th, 2014

WALDPORT — Brian David Fine was immediately sent on his way to serve an 18-month sentence in state prison last Wednesday, Aug. 13, after pleading guilty to multiple felony charges.

The 25-year-old former county employee admitted to embezzling $25,000 from the Lincoln County Employees Association. Fine was the association’s treasurer at the time the money was embezzled. He was employed as a user support specialist with the county at the time.

In an afternoon sentencing hearing in Lincoln County Circuit Court before Judge Thomas Branford, the details of the investigation were outlined by prosecutor Keith Stein, of the Linn County District Attorney’s Office. An investigation was conducted by the Linn County District Attorney’s Office, largely because the employees association is a union whose members include personnel from the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office.
